So there I was changing the oil on the Detroit Diesel and Rene thought it was funny that my expensive Citizen Promaster Land was rubbing against the leaf springs of the Big Rig. So he grabbed my phone, hit record, and I gave the combination watch an inpromptu tough test.
A lot of commenters asked why I would do such a thing. Good question. There’s two reasons.
The Sapphire glass
How scratch resistant is the sapphire glass? Here at JimKinkade.com, I do real world tough tests, not bench top tests in a laboratory. So I don’t know what level a leaf spring is on an 18 wheeler, but the Citizen Promaster Land has an impressively durable sapphire glass screen that held up to the onslaught of rusty metal and peeling paint.
The Prominent Buttons
There’s three buttons on the right side of the U822’s case. The middle button looks like a crown, but it is in fact a button you must press, not turn. These buttons are not well protected, so when I smashed the side of the watch into the leaf spring, the buttons activated. I’m not impressed with the toughness of the buttons, even though they have some tough looking knurling.
There’s a method to the madness
These tough tests are not for nothing. At JimKinkade.com, I give you the real world information about watches and gear. You make the decision on what to buy. So knowing how scratch resistant the screen is, you may want to buy this good looking analog, digital Citizen watch. If so, click here on the affiliate link, and buy a unit imported from Japan on Amazon.
