Protrek Bungie Cord Band Demo

Casio brought a lot of innovation to the outdoors watch world with the bungie cord band on the ProTrek PRJ-B001-B2, but it might leave some watch wearers confused. After all, it’s a one of a kind watch with a versatile strap. But it’s so different you might forget how to even put it back on! So I made a tutorial video and demonstrated how to don the watch. My wife Denise helped try it on too.

Here’s an interesting hack for this watch:

Use a hair tie as a replacement for the bungie cord! First make sure the hair tie you’re going to use is durable. You don’t want the hair tie to break while you’re wearing you nice new Protrek ani-digi watch. But if you think it’s strong enough, the hair tie will fit around the cleat on the buckle.

So if I were to sum up how to put on this PRJ-B001-B2, here are the steps:

  1. Wrap the bungie around the cleat on the watch’s black plastic buckle.
  2. Run the pull tab of the bungie through the pass through on the other side of the watch.
  3. Pull the bungie to the sides of the pass through and clip them into the guides.
  4. Put your wrist through the band and get the watch where you want to wear it.
  5. Wrap the bungie back around from the pass through to the buckle and place the pull tab under the clip
  6. Push the excess bungie into the buckle beside the cleat

Bing, bang, boom. You’re wearing the lightest and most innovative ProTrek watch! (As of July 2024.)

If the band is too loose or too tight you can adjust the buckle up or down the fabric band. Don’t ask me to write that part out. It’s looped through the buckle like those buckles on car seats. And you dads know how annoying those things are.

To get the strap tighter, you need to push both ends through the buckle then pull the tail end to run the loose part that way.

To get the strap looser, you also need to push both ends through the buckle, but this time pull the buckle away from the watch. That’s the best way I can describe it. For a more detailed look, watch my demonstration video on YouTube.

Small wristers may find that the tail end of the fabric strap is too long. Well that’s because the bungie cord is kind of long. I couldn’t find a shorter replacement loop online, but a hair tie may work. Again PLEASE make sure the hair tie won’t break. I’d hate for you to lose your watch on a hike.

To wrap this up I gotta say, this PRJ-B001-B2 is suprisingly comfortable.
