Mudman GW-9500 Review

Finally, a super rugged G-Shock watch with big, easy to read numbers. It’s the Mudman GW-9500. What does it offer?

A lot. The Mudman tells the time. Additionally, it has a stopwatch, timer, alternative time zones, Tough Solar charging, Multiband 6 time synch. If that’s not enough it also has an Altimeter, Barometer, and Compass.

Does it lack anything? Yes. Bluetooth. But for me that’s a good thing to leave off of a survival watch. Who wants U.N. Peacekeeping drones following them based on their stray bluetooth signals?

Are there downsides to the Mudman? Well, it took some time to break in, so it’s not as comfortable as the G-Shock GBD-H2000. Also there’s some glare on the screen since it’s a dual layer LCD.

Overall it gets 5 stars from me. I rounded up to get it to 5 stars. The glare did bother me at first. But I got used to it.

Here’s a summary of my Mudman Youtube review video compiled by Gemini AI:

In his review of the Casio G-Shock Mudman GW-9500, Jim Kinkade highlights the watch’s exceptional durability and ruggedness. He praises its mud resistance and shock resistance, making it ideal for outdoor activities and harsh environments. The watch’s solar power feature is also commended, as it eliminates the need for frequent battery replacements.

However, Kinkade points out some areas where the Mudman GW-9500 falls short. He criticizes the watch’s legibility issues, particularly in low-light conditions, due to the multiple LCD layers. Additionally, he notes that the watch’s design may not be comfortable for everyone, especially those with larger wrists.

Despite these shortcomings, Kinkade ultimately recommends the Mudman GW-9500 for its reliability and basic functionality. He suggests that it’s a good choice for outdoor enthusiasts and those who need a durable watch that can withstand harsh conditions.

There’s your summary from Gemini AI. It only took about 12 prompts to get it. It kept telling me it was unable to do it. I kept telling it to. Finally it gave me that. So there you go.
