We now have official confirmation on beans previously spilled! The G-Shock website in Japan has official listings for the new G-Shock GA-010 and GD-010 as discussed in the last episode. What can we learn?
That green and blue are hard to distinguish! The new GA-010CE-2AJF looks to me like a sea foam green color. Or is it sea foam blue? G-Central weighed in on the color and said it looked Tiffany blue. Great G-Shock World also called in blue.
I’m sitting here calling it green!
Really the color I’m interested in is the brown GD-010CE-5. This one has the Cordura band and I’m a big fan of the fabric.
Warning: Negative LCDs
All four new GA-010 and GD-010s have negative LCDs. The digital subdials of the GA-010s are negative. The main screens of the GD-010 are negative. However these screens are big and have thick segments. So perhaps they won’t be as illegible as negative LCDs G-Shock has released in the past.
We shall see!
Lord willing, I plan to buy the brown one. That one looks “awesome,” as I called it in the video. Report back here and see what I think about that negative LCD.
If you really don’t like negative LCDs under any circumstance, and you still want that basic bold design of the GA-010, just go ahead and buy the GA-010-1 from G-Shock now by clicking here on this affiliate link. I think it’s a good, solid watch. And a great value at the retail price. You can read my previous posts about the GD-010 here, here, and here.

AI Video summary
Here’s the fun part of a jimkinade.com blog post where I feed my chaotic YouTube video into Gemini AI and see how it sums it up. Will the information be correct? You never know with AI. Anyways, here the AI summary of my YouTube video:
Here’s a more detailed summary of the Jim Kinkade video about the new G-Shock G010 and GA010 models, incorporating additional details and insights:
Introduction:
Jim Kinkade begins the video by introducing the new G-Shock G010 and GA010 models, highlighting their updated features and design. He emphasizes the durability and functionality of these watches, typical of the G-Shock brand.
Key Features:
- New Colorways: Casio has released new colorways for both the G010 and GA010 models. The GA010 comes in black and a unique “Tiffany blue” color.
- Cordura Fabric Bands: Both models feature durable Cordura fabric bands, known for their strength and resistance to wear and tear. The bands also include fixed keepers to prevent them from sliding up and down, a common issue with fabric straps.
- Negative LCDs: Two of the new models feature negative LCD displays, where the text and numbers appear white against a black background. This can be a matter of preference, as some viewers find negative displays easier to read in bright sunlight, while others find them more difficult to read in low-light conditions.
- Other Features: Both models retain the core G-Shock features, including shock resistance, water resistance, 200-meter depth rating, and a variety of digital functions.
Jim Kinkade’s Opinions:
- Enthusiasm for Cordura: Kinkade expresses his enthusiasm for the Cordura fabric bands, highlighting their durability and comfort. He also mentions that the fixed keepers are a welcome improvement that eliminates a common annoyance with fabric straps.
- Concerns about Negative LCDs: Kinkade acknowledges that negative LCDs can be difficult to read, particularly in low-light conditions. However, he states that he is willing to give the new models a try and see how they perform in different lighting situations.
- Preference for the Brown GD010: Kinkade expresses a strong preference for the brown GD010 model, describing it as “tactical” and suitable for his lifestyle. He appreciates the unique colorway and the overall look of the watch.
- Appreciation for Classic G-Shock Design: Kinkade emphasizes his appreciation for the back-to-basics approach of the G010 and GA010 models, focusing on core functionality and durability. He likes that these models don’t feature unnecessary bells and whistles, making them more accessible to a wider audience.
Additional Notes:
- Kinkade mentions that the watches are available for pre-order in Japan and will be released soon in other markets.
- He also discusses the potential for future colorways and limited editions of the G010 and GA010 models.

Human Reaction to the AI Summary
That’s funny! What the heck is the G010? That piece of information is factually incorrect. There’s no such watch as that. But that’s AI for you, gentlemen. It sounds good but it often times incorrect. To correct the AI, the watch is the GD-010.
So just watch the video itself to get the details down. But there is one clarification that I’d like to make about what I said in the video and it has to do with the keepers.
Do the keepers move?
On the Cordura band, you will notice that there are three keepers as opposed to the usual two on other models. I speculate that at least one may be fixed in place based on the stitching pattern on the band. I don’t know this for sure. It’s just speculation. But in the video I don’t make it clear that I don’t actually know. I’m the type of guy to say things definitively regardless of my confidence in the veracity of the claim. Many of you probably already noticed this.
Good thing I am usually correct!
So we shall see if the keepers on the Cordura band of the GA-010 and GD-010 stay in place. Maybe soon we will have official word from Casio if the watch in question is green or blue. Until then stay tuned to JimKinkade.com and don’t forget to check out my Amazon store.
