The G-Shock GW-M5610 arguably holds the title of best G-Shock ever. It’s important to emphasize how often that fact is argued. The GW-M5610 iterates the classic square G-Shock design with Tough Solar and Multiband 6 functionality, and an updated module that displays the current time in other modes.
So why haven’t I reviewed the 5610 until now?
Analog watches can be precisely indicate the minute as well as a digital watch so long as the minute hand extends all the way out toward the perimeter and clearly point to a distinct mark. The Citizen Promaster Land U822 is such a watch.
So there I was changing the oil on the Detroit Diesel and Rene thought it was funny that my expensive Citizen Promaster Land was rubbing against the leaf springs of the Big Rig. So he grabbed my phone, hit record, and I gave the combination watch an inpromptu tough test.
A lot of commenters asked why I would do such a thing. Good question. There’s two reasons.
In a surprise to no one, the Casio limited edition Back to the Future calculator watch sold out and quickly appeared on eBay at a huge markup.
Casio emailed me at 9:15 to announce its availability. On a whim I gave it a shot to buy one at 9:22. In those few minutes all the units were sold out!
You know, not enough watch reviewers spend time analyzing a watch’s buckle. Well at JimKinkade.com, we’re not typical. So I made an entire YouTube video about the buckle on the Citizen Promaster Land U822. Yes, it’s that nice.
Of course, the video above is a short. So it’s not a feature length video about the buckle. But I insist, this buckle is nice.

It looks like a big rugged watch. But is it? After wearing it extensively at work and around the house I can tell you that the Citizen Promaster Land will get compliments for its good looks. Its sapphire glass can take a beating. But it’s not as feature packed as it seems and I’m not confident in durability of the buttons.
Remember the watch that Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future? Casio is bringing it back as a special limited edition watch to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the movie’s release, the CA500WEBF-1A.

My first response when I unboxed the G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000 was “Wow.” This Master of G watch certainly caught my attention with its premium metal components. After wearing the watch for a couple months the question remains, “Is is worth $800?”

Warning to anybody with OCD, I noticed a detail about my G-Shock Mudmaster GWG-B1000 that will set you over the edge. If you don’t have OCD you will think this is the dumbest thing to notice. But here it is: when I press the light button on my Mudmaster, the metal shroud goes in with it.
That’s it. The button works fine. So I suppose this movement is just cosmetic and won’t affect the mud resistance or waterproofness.
A lot of you reading right now are thinking this is really stupid to complain about. Well okay, I guess you guys don’t have OCD. But for everyone else flipping out about this I just want to say calm down and stop pacing back and forth obsessively!
Also I’m sorry for abbreviating it as OCD rather than spelling it out in its entirety, “Obsesssive Compulsive Disorder.” I know how much that bothers some of you!
